No pun intended with having a Flashback category and images of a house fire. I was going through my growing collection of portable hard drives and found several folders of images that I forgot about or otherwise blew off posting for whatever reason.
I was washing my car in our driveway when we lived in Sierra Vista, AZ. I heard a small boom or deep base pop and didn’t pay much attention until I noticed black smoke billowing over the roof lines in my neighborhood. It looked awful close so I grabbed my camera gear and took off in that general direction to see what had happened, on the way I remembered the boom or pop and thought it might have been a car wreck or something.
It was pretty windy that day and as I got closer to the area, the wind had pushed a lot of the smoke to ground level and visibility was about 20 yards but I could now tell it was a house fire. I drove a little further to get up wind so I wasn’t overcome with smoke and asked the Sierra Vista Fire Department that was on scene if I could take pictures and was given permission as long as I stayed behind the area they cordoned off and used my 70-200mm and my 300mm to get close shots.
The great news was nobody was in the home or injured.
