I {heart} Lowe’s

The construction in one of the bathrooms has moved to the “get pretty stuff” phase.  That means I had to pick out tile for around the bathtub.  Making decisions like that is always painful!  Being a military brat and raised in Army housing I grew up in homes completely void of color except for furnishings.  Whitewalls, white tile, bland countertops everything had to be left in a state when we moved on that would be versatile for the next occupants.  When I have to make color choices for my home I always have in the back of my mind that it’s permanent and could someone else just move in.  Crazy, I know.

So, this is why I {heart} Lowe’s.  First, it’s very female friendly and organized more like a department store than a hardware store.  Secondly, I think the employees take sensitivity training. :)  The person who helped me today was EXTRA patient and helpful while I narrowed down my field of choices.  He even gave his opinion on how my different selections would work together when I was stumped and ready to head for the plain white tile section. :)

The big piece on the bottom is the floor tile.  The other two are for around the tub.  I know, they don’t scream bold, bright color but they are more exciting than standard white tile. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Love the choices you made. As for Lowes vs. Home Depot, I’ll take Lowes anytime. We’ve had better luck with Lowes and it is more female friendly. Can’t wait to see the bathroom.

ooooohhhh I love your choices! I am a neutral/earth tone gal so these are right up my alley. I also “heart” Home Depot as we don’t have Lowes here, but it is coming!!!!!
I grew up in a home that was CONSTANTLY under renovation, you know, my parents bought a piece of crap house and for the next 15 years worked on it sporadically, we never did have any carpets upstairs or a proper ceiling LOL. I guess that is why i love having a house that is finished and am constantly buying knick knacks to make it feel finished.

Go wild Maria, buy what you want, paint some fun colours – buyers can always change that!!!!! Have fun, can’t wait to see the finished product.

Oh, very nice selection Maria! I LOVE the textures and the earth tones. Great job! And I know what you mean about the pressure to chose for yourself and taking into consideration re-sale. A house is a home first and an investment next. :) Or is it the other way around? Ah! Anyway, as for Lowe’s vs. Home Depot. I see more Home Depot’s than Lowe’s. Well, they are more within my travels and so convenience-wise I’ve always gone to Home Depot. I haven’t really noticed a difference between the two while shopping at either. Both are awesome stores!

You did a really good job laying the pieces out for this shot showing the floor, tub surround and accent pieces; cool touch with the tile box as a back ground.

Alright, now down to business.

I like to call things in my life that happen unexpectedly and turn into something wonderful “happy accidents”. I’ve had many happy accidents, meeting my husband, forgetting an ingredient in a recipe and discovering it tasted better without the ingredient, etc... Photography was another “happy accident". A friend needed someone to help shoot auto races, my husband volunteered me and bought me my first Digital SLR camera. Five years have passed since those first nights standing on a wall and trying my best to capture cars traveling 120 mph heading directly at me. It didn’t take me long before I wanted to learn how to operate the camera without guidance. My journey began and still continues. read more
