Do you Dorodango?

The other night Mythbusters did a segment on the Japanese art of Dorodango.  In short, Dorodango is making a shiny sphere approximately the size of a pool ball out of mud.  One of my sons got “Dorodango fever” and set about making one.  After a few trials and errors here is the final product:

Want to give it a try?  Here are the easiest instructions we found,  make sure to check out his gallery of Dorodango.  Here’s a tip we learned:  the Dorodango ball shines up nicely by first rubbing it on the leg of an old pair of jeans followed up by sticking it in the toe of an old pantyhose and bouncing gently (like you were dribbling a basketball).   

Looks like we will be searching for interesting colored soils now in the quest to make the perfect Dorodango.
