Las Vegas: Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden, The Big Cats

Yesterday I shared the dolphins at the Secret Garden, today I am sharing the Big Cats.  They were magic!  Even though our pugs are featured frequently on my blog I am a cat person.  Seeing these beauties and photographing them was a real treat!

Just so there is no confusion and no one thinks I was actually in the cat’s enclosures in the later pics here is a shot of a baby leopard through the fence.  Yes, all of the cats are securely behind fencing.:)

For the next images I shot as wide open as my lens would go, 2.8, and made the fence disappear, for the most part.

I think he was posing for me.  I can’t blame him I would pose too if I looked like that. :)

When we catch our cats at home with their tongues out like this we make fun of them.

I love your animal shots! Love love love…. How you can capture these through a gated area in a confined zoo environment and make them look wild and engaged is amazing! And wow, those fangs and so yellow too as if blood stained. Yikes. :)

I like to call things in my life that happen unexpectedly and turn into something wonderful “happy accidents”. I’ve had many happy accidents, meeting my husband, forgetting an ingredient in a recipe and discovering it tasted better without the ingredient, etc... Photography was another “happy accident". A friend needed someone to help shoot auto races, my husband volunteered me and bought me my first Digital SLR camera. Five years have passed since those first nights standing on a wall and trying my best to capture cars traveling 120 mph heading directly at me. It didn’t take me long before I wanted to learn how to operate the camera without guidance. My journey began and still continues. read more
