The World’s Smallest Onion (maybe) and My Addiction

Hello!  Life has been crazy for us recently filled with sports practices, games and unfortunately a bout with the flu bug that swept through our household.  I’m relieved that it appears the worst of the sniffles, coughs and fevers have passed and everyone is on the road to recovery. :)

Our garden is getting ready to be put to bed until spring.  I just had to share our onion crop.  Yes, one onion whose diameter is the same as a quarter.  I laughed when I pulled it this morning, 5 long months and untold gallons of water produced this.

I have met some wonderful couples recently whom I will be blessed with the honor of photographing on their wedding days.  I love meeting couples who are planning for their big day!  I’m positively addicted!!!  I’ve heard some funny stories about engagements from a proposal that was made during a sneezing fit to the future-bride who traveled all the way to Germany with her engagement ring hidden in her luggage unbeknownst to her so her guy could propose when she arrived.  Because I am addicted to all things weddings here’s a scene that caught my eye today at the dry cleaners.  I just can’t pass up a wedding dress. :)

I love your onion picture! Such a pretty color purple. And at least you got it to grow! I am convinced I have a black thumb. : ( Even a gardening class at Cochise College a few years ago didn’t help. (yep, I’m THAT cool – I took GARDENING at 19, lol) Actually it was a really fun class. : ) Thanks for sharing pictures from your everyday life – I think those are my favorite!

You planted at the wrong time. Put sets in the ground in October/November and pull them in May. You can get them from Dixondale Farms in Texas.

Putting your garden to bed until spring? No broccoli, cauliflower, brussells sprouts, lettuce, carrots? Huh?

Throw down some steer manure and get crackin’!

I like to call things in my life that happen unexpectedly and turn into something wonderful “happy accidents”. I’ve had many happy accidents, meeting my husband, forgetting an ingredient in a recipe and discovering it tasted better without the ingredient, etc... Photography was another “happy accident". A friend needed someone to help shoot auto races, my husband volunteered me and bought me my first Digital SLR camera. Five years have passed since those first nights standing on a wall and trying my best to capture cars traveling 120 mph heading directly at me. It didn’t take me long before I wanted to learn how to operate the camera without guidance. My journey began and still continues. read more
