David, Jessica, Layla & Jac, {heart} session : Arizona Couples Photographer

Over the past year I have been so blessed to get to know David and Jessica while shooting their Engagement Session and Wedding.  when they asked me to take pics of them and their furry kids for their Christmas pictures I was thrilled!  I’ve gotten to know them so well so it was like getting together with old friends…except for the snake, more on that later.

First the furry kids, Layla, who pretty much rules the family.  :)

Now for the snake.  During the shoot as I was bending over grabbing something out of my camera bag I heard a rattling sound behind me.  I have lived in snake country, Arizona, for 33 years and had never hear that sound or even seen a live snake outside of a zoo.  That rattle sound is one I will never forget.  I turned around to see the snake (pic below) reared up a couple of feet behind me!  Thank God he didn’t strike before I got out of there!  One problem though I ran without my camera bag.  David grabbed a big stick and lassoed my camera bag, “Survivor” challenge style, and rescued my gear.  Thank you, David!  I would probably still be sitting there staring at the snake staring at my bag if it wasn’t for your quick thinking.  :)

Thank you Jess & David for another eventful shoot!  I am blessed to get to shoot so many of your special moments.  {heart}  Please tell Layla I am sorry for asking her “wanna treat?” when I didn’t have one.

I like to call things in my life that happen unexpectedly and turn into something wonderful “happy accidents”. I’ve had many happy accidents, meeting my husband, forgetting an ingredient in a recipe and discovering it tasted better without the ingredient, etc... Photography was another “happy accident". A friend needed someone to help shoot auto races, my husband volunteered me and bought me my first Digital SLR camera. Five years have passed since those first nights standing on a wall and trying my best to capture cars traveling 120 mph heading directly at me. It didn’t take me long before I wanted to learn how to operate the camera without guidance. My journey began and still continues. read more
